Its unbelievable some of the untruths that chiropractors are exposed to when it comes to marketing, especially in the first months of 2009. I need to make some things clear, because my experience in this area will not allow me to remain silent. Too many chiropractors are falling victim to this lie, and theyre watching as their practices suffer the consequences.
Just recently, I was reading a major chiropractic journal and saw that a chiropractic marketing group decided to tell all chiropractors that social media marketing and internet marketing are a "bust" in 2009. Really, I thought? Is this possible that they could make such a whopping falsehood in a big publication? I looked closer just to make sure that it wasnt some sort of joke, and sure enough, it was no joke.
Now, this chiropractic coaching group obviously made this statement so the average chiropractor would look more heavily at their chiropractic marketing system, but they appeared serious! In my opinion, it was not a good idea to include obvious untruths about social media and chiropractic internet marketing. They even had the nerve to say that people aren't searching the internet as much in 2009 and that the glory days were gone.
This consulting group that was trying to look cutting edge actually just made themselves look really dated in front of the chiropractic world. How can you say that social media marketing is dead after the current election of Barack Obama; a presidency won by a landslide thanks to that very kind of marketing is that is apparently "dead?" You cant deny that the geniuses behind this campaign used viral marketing, social networking, video marketing, and all the opportunities afforded by social media online.
If chiropractors across America knew how much more freedom and flexibility that Web 2.0 and social media marketing would allow them, then theyd all be jumping aboard. You cant be responsible for every aspect of your practice, because youre a specialized expert, but you can devote as little as a half hour a day to social media marketing, and quickly and powerfully brand your practice in your community, driving many new patients through your doors each month.
This kind of magic doesnt happen overnight, however. My practice took a fair amount of time, effort, and experimentation to get the online marketing to do its magic for me. Posting one video on YouTube isnt going to transform your bottom line overnight, but consistent effort will create the viral marketing power that youre looking for. A virus is something that keeps spreading and spreading, and thats exactly whats going to happen online with social media marketing. No marketing group is going to tell you that, because theyd rather take all your money and continue with their tried and true one size fits all methods of marketing.
So, where should you start in the virtual chiropractic marketing world? Well, I recommend starting with video since it was the biggest marketing tool in 2008 and will continue to explode this year. Chiropractic video marketing allows your audience to get to know you and see that you are a real person. They feel at home with you before they even walk-though your door. You can't put a price-tag on that type of rapport building and social proof so early on.
In todays modern and crazy world, its when potential patients can experience your authenticity that they will then want to come through your practice doors. The way that I see chiropractors make the same mistake again and again is in the presentation of themselves on video. You have to act natural, because people can sense phoniness with incredible stealth. If you can show who you really are, people are going to trust you and turn to your practice in their time of need. - 15433
