Setting goals is crucial to ultimately achieving success. The majority of people still don't seem to really get this, so I would like to elaborate just a little, if I may. We have probably all heard the saying "how do you know you are there, if you didn't know where you wanted to go?" Yes, it might sound a little silly but if you are honest with yourself, you will realize that there is a wealth of truth in that statement.
I have been retired from full-time employment for many years now. In the past I was District Manager for Health & Welfare Canada. A lot of responsibility went along with the job but I had no computer skills as my staff would take care of those things for me. Just this past November, 2008, I decided that I was going to fulfill a dream of mine to run my own internet marketing business. I knew next to nothing about the industry but I was determined to learn what I needed to know. After doing a fair amount of research, I aligned myself with Carbon Copy Pro. I was very impressed with this Company because they offered a complete marketing system that helped solve all the problems that most people face in a home-based business. They also provided all the necessary tools for success. I could hardly believe it, but they actually also closed the deals for you!!
I stumbled upon a video of their 2008 Convention that took place just before I joined them. They were offering a program called the 2009 Carbon Copy Pro 90 Day Challenge. I was able to sign up for it and last evening (February 23, 2009) we had the last webinar of the series. One of the instructors suggested that we record the progress we had made over the last 90 days. This got me thinking about where I am today compared to where I was when I started the program. At the beginning, I had never written an article, let along had one published, I had never created a video or even been in one, I had never had a blog or a Facebook or a Twitter account....in fact I didn't even know what a number of these things were.
So what have I managed to accomplish during this period of time? I have learned that I love to write and have written 20 articles that have all been published by EzineArticles. That in itself would have made me deliriously happy...but I also managed to get all 20 articles on the first page of Google and many of them were even in the first position.
I bought myself a little webcam and started learning how to create and edit videos. There was quite a learning curve but I now have 26 videos on my YouTube channel and I also have 37 subscribers to my channel. When I upload a new video, these people are automatically advised so that they can check it out. I have received some very complimentary comments from viewers who also thank me for helping them get started with their own business.
I now have a Wordpress.org blog that I host myself and I am in the process of creating my own capture pages. I have posted a Press Release and will be doing another one within a matter of days. As of yesterday I had 567 followers on Twitter and 685 followers on Facebook and I have developed many wonderful relationships by networking on these sites.
I feel very good about myself when I look at what I have accomplished during the past 90 days, and this is only the beginning!!
No doubt you have all heard someone say "if I can do it, then anyone can". Sometimes we think, "Oh yeh...who are they kidding!" In this case, I really feel that it is the truth. I am a 65 year old, retired woman, with no previous computer or marketing skills. So I do feel confident in saying "if I can do it, you can too". If you have the desire to achieve your goals, then believe me, nothing can or will stop you from doing just that. The right person or the right information will appear just when you need it the most, as long as you give it your best and you never, never give up. That's the secret! There is no better time to succeed that right now. Millions of new millionaires are going to be created over the next ten years and there is no reason on earth why you cannot be one of them. I definitely plan on being one, do you?
